CLIENT:

INDUSTRY:

Telecom

PROJECT TIMELINE:

18 months

Functional Area

Database re-engineering and maintenance

Technologies

  • Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition
  • XML
  • CORBA
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • HP-UX 11i
  • CVS

SOLUTION

1  re-engineered code by developing a generic class for tables storing reference data and an XML based mechanism for customizing it for a specific table;

2  upgraded GUI that was used for browsing, searching and updating those tables;

3  developed database tools for automated bulk uploading of network element reference rules that came from manufacturers in a variety of formats.

Once the active re-engineering phase was completed, 1Datagroup involved in maintaining the reference part of the database from one build to another and from one commercial release to the next.

RESULTS

The common database helps dozens of communications carriers worldwide achieve higher flow-through rates, simplify OSS setup and upgrade and accomplish easier integration with third-party order, entry, network engineering and  element management
